Charles F. Lahl, of the firm Lahl & Walter, the popular barbers of Plymouth, is a native of Germany, and was born December 3, 1854. His father, Adolph Lahl, emigrated to the United States with his family in 1856, and settled in Milwaukee, where he resided until his death, which occurred in 1887. He was for some time foreman of the willow basket factory of that city, and was a respected citizen. The wife and mother died in March of 1893. The family now comprises two brothers and a sister: Charles F., the subject of this article; Henry, who resides in Milwaukee; and Lizzie, who is the wife of August Wagner, also of that city.

Mr. Lahl began to learn his trade in Milwaukee at the age of fifteen years. In 1875 he established a business in Plymouth, and has been continuously in business since that time, being by many years the senior barber of the city.

His wife, whom he married in Plymouth, June 10, 1879, was formerly Miss Katie Gelser. Mr. and Mrs. Lahl have two children, a son and a daughter, Elsie and Raymond.

Mr. Lahl is a courteous and intelligent gentleman, and possesses the confidence and esteem of his fellow citizens. Socially, he is a member of the Royal Arcanum and Modern Woodmen of America.
