Henry Depping has been a resident of Sheboygan County since 1859, and is accounted one of the leading farmers of Herman Township. He is a native of Hohenhausen, Lippe-Detmold, Germany, and is a son of Henry Depping. Both his parents died in their native land. Of their children, our subject and two sisters came to the United States. As before stated, Mr. Depping crossed the ocean in 1859. For some seven years after coming to this country, he worked in a brickyard, and thus got his first financial start.

For a companion and helpmate on life's journey, Mr. Depping chose Miss Wilhelmine, daughter of Bernard Brand. Mrs. Depping is also a native of Lippe-Detmold, from which country she emigrated to America with her parents. Eight children have been born to Mr. and Mrs. Depping, who are in the order of their births as follows: Wilhelmine, who married John Matt, of Fond du Lac; Pauline, the wife of Conrad Reineking, a prosperous farmer of Herman Township; Ida, Sophia, Matilda, William and Gustav, who are at home.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Depping are members of the German Reformed Church, to the upbuilding of which, as well as to the support of the Mission House, they have contributed both in money and labor. Their home is a comfortable one, and the family is highly respected throughout the community where they are known.
