Source: "Portrait and Biographical Record - Published 1894 by Excelsior Publishing Co., Chicago" Pages 217 - 218

Edward F. W. Zimmermann, of Sheboygan, bookseller, stationer and blank-book manufacturer, established business in 1874. He was born in the town of Wilson, Sheboygan County, April 23, 1853, and is a son of Frederick Zimmermann. His parents removed to the Evergreen City when Edward was but a lad. There he received his early education in the public and parochial schools, and from his fourteenth year was a student at the German Lutheran Seminary at Addison, Du Page County, Ill., his intention being to prepare himself for the profession of teaching. Changing his mind, however, with reference to the occupation he should pursue, he went to Milwaukee and learned the business of book-binding. Beginning on a small scale, he has gradually increased his stock and capacity for trade, and for years has had the chief book-store and bindery in the city.

The marriage ceremony uniting Mr. Zimmermann and Miss Lydia A. Freund was performed by Prof. G. Schaller, in St. Louis, Mo., April 22, 1879. The lady is a native of that city, and a daughter of Edward G. Freund, deceased, who was for many years a prominent resident of that place. Mr. and Mrs. Zimmermann have four children; Immanuel Edward, Lydia A., Paul and Egbert William. The family are members of the Lutheran Trinity Church of Sheboygan.

Mr. Zimmermann has held several offices of trust in the church, and is at present Secretary of the Lutheran Cemetery Association.
