Charles B. Jones, Secretary of the Phoenix Chair Company, is a representative of one of the earliest families to settle in Sheboygan. The record of his father, Hon. John H. Jones, will be found on another page.

The gentleman whose name heads this sketch is a native of Sheboygan, born April 25, 1862. After acquiring a good English education in the public schools, he spent a year in the Military Academy at Poughkeepsie, N. Y., and an equal length of time in the college at Lake Forest, Ill. In 1881 he secured a position in the shipping room of the Crocker Chair Company, with which he remained three years, rising to the position of traveling salesman. In February he went to work in the shipping-room of the Phoenix Chair Company, but soon a vacancy occurred in the clerical force, and he was made billing-clerk. Becoming more conversant with the business, he was advanced to be correspondent, and in 1891 was chosen Secretary of the company. He is also a member of the Board of Directors.

For a companion Mr. Jones chose Miss Jessie W. Ewing, a native of Sheboygan, to whom he was married October 17, 1888. They have two children, Marjory and Catherine. Both husband and wife are members of the Congregational Church.

Mr. Jones, who is a Republican in politics, is an able and trustworthy business man, having the confidence of those who have known him all his life.
