Conrad Reineking, a farmer of Herman Township, is a descendant of one of the pioneer families of the county, his father, Simon Reineking, having emigrated from Germany in 1847. {See sketch of him on another page.}

Our subject was born on the old homestead in the town of Herman, June 29, 1860. Having remained under the parental roof until twenty-seven years of age, he embarked in the grocery business in Franklin with a partner, under the firm name of Reineking & Greibe. In 1891 he purchased a farm of one hundred and ten acres of valuable land on section 10, where he now resides.

Mr. Reineking was married June 29, 1890, to Miss Pauline, daughter of Henry and Wilhelmine Depping. Of this union one child was born, Bernard. Mrs. Reineking was born January 24, 1864, and is one of a family of eight children, three brothers and five sisters.

Mr. Reineking received a practical education in the district schools, to which he has added by experience in business affairs. While merchandising he also held the position of Postmaster of Franklin, having been appointed under a Republican administration, to the principals of which party he has ever adhered. he is industrious and energetic, and is recognized as one of the rising young men of his township. Both himself and wife are active members of the Reformed Church of the United States.
