Golden Event Of Marriage Being Observed Today
The fiftieth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. George Stirdivant, Route 2, Sheboygan Falls, which occurred
Thursday, is being celebrated today with a dinner for immediate relatives at the Kneevers Hotel.
Decorations at the dinner are in keeping with the golden anniversary. Mrs. Stirdivant's corsage of pink and white
roses is tied with gold ribbons and the pink and white roses being used as table decorations are in gold vases.
Gold-colored candles complete the dinner table appointments.
Mrs. Stirdivant is the former Miss Alma Koeppe, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Erdman Koeppe. She was born in
Town Holland, where he was born June 25, 1885 (sic). His parents were Mr. and Mrs. William Stirdivant.
Marriage of the couple took place at the Lutheran Church in Town Holland, Dec. 6, 1906, with the late Rev. Herman
Schmidt performing the ceremony. Mr. Stirdivant was a painter and also an upholsterer by trade and for a number of
years had an upholstery shop. They are members of First Baptist Church at Sheboygan Falls and Mr. Stirdivant is
also affiliated with the Masonic Lodge there. Mrs. Stirdivant is a member of the Ladies of the G.A.R. She enjoys
playing cards and Mr. Stirdivant is fond of reading. He is a member of Wisconsin State Historical Society and has
contributed a number of items to Sheboygan County Museum.
Mr. and Mrs. Stirdivant's family consists of two daughters and a son. They are: Mrs. William Geltemeyer, 119 Dicke
Ave., Sheboygan Falls, and Mrs. Jerome Biederwolf, 2533 S. 8th St., and Milton Stirdivant, Huron, S.D. The latter
son and his wife are unable to be present for the golden wedding festivities today.
