HAYES
Mrs. Minnie SURING, wife of Louis SURING, died suddenly on Sunday, December 26, at 3:30 p.m., aged 37 years. The day before her death she appeared to be in the best of healthp she and the rest of the family having a picture taken of the family group in the afternoon after which they all took supper with the family of H. HANKWITZ and later drove to the school house where they enjoyed the festivities until a late hour, reaching home at 11 o'clock. About 3 o'clock a.m. she was taken sick and despite all efforts for her relief gradually sank until 3:30 in the afternoon and her spirit took its flight. The funeral occured on Tuesday afternoon, the services being conducted by Rev. KOHLAPP of Bonduel. At the conclusion of the funeral service the remains were conveyed to the Evangelical Association Cemetery near the school house in Dist.No. 1. The following friends and neighbors acting as pallbearers, Albert GERNOT, Fred LUEBECK, John HOEFFS , William BORK, Charles FIRGENS and Albert AHLERS. More than 50 teams were in the procession which followed the remains to the burying ground and a large number of people testified to the popularity of the dead lady. She leaves a husband and seven children.
William SURING of Iowa arrived on Monday to visit his brother Louis whom he had not seen for 31 years. He found his brother's wife dead and his house a place of mourning.
Carl, Fritz and Albert ZAHN of Underhill, and Miss Mary SURING , Mrs. Fred SCHEWE of Belle Plaine were in attendance at the funeral.

Joe MESSER has sold his standing cedar to the Chase & Tilton Lumber
and Sawmill Company for $500.00.
A brother of August RADLOFF, from Town of Washington, Shawano County,
has been here for a visit.
Robert SCHIMDT is hauling ice for D. ZUEHLKE.
Richard GARDEBRECHT has returned home from Fond du Lac where he had
an opeation on his knee. He reports the foot alright.
The sawmill of Chase & Tilton will be in operation in a day or
two. Several new machines have been put in and they intend to cut several
million feet of lumber and shingles. Shingle packers have come here from
Oshkosh to work in the mill.
Charles SCHIMMEL is carrying mail from Hayes to Suring and back. It
is a sight to see the logs come in from every direction to the Chase and
Tilton sawmill, formerly the H. Hankwitz mill. If they keep coming in as
now one scaler can't do the scaling. Fred KRUSHKE is over his illness and
able to carry the mail again from Hayes to Breed and back.
Joe MESSER is improving his stock. Soon he will have a new breed of
swine come in from Philadelphia.
