Another landmark on Oconto’s Main St. will be removed.  The hotel is owned by Mr. and Mrs. George Ansorge and was recently sold to Robert Schmidt and Louis Altsuer.

Richard O. Wedgwood, 78, Little Suamico farmer, was stricken with a heart attack while making hay.

The stave silo on the Frank Fetterly farm, town of Little River, was blown down during a storm Friday.

A family reunion held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Pethke Sunday was attended by Mrs. Minnie Pethke, Mr. and Mrs. Arno Free, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Pethke and daughter Alice, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth DeLonge and son Michael, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Pethke and son, Jeffery, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Wilber and family, and Alfred Pethke.

Johnny Paholke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Paholke, spent the past week with his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Pethke.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Reichelt and daughter Jewel and friend of Chicago, spent the past week at a cottage at Chute Lake.  Many relatives and friends called on them during their stay.  They returned to Chicago Saturday.

Bonnie and Sherri Hoffman, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Hoffman of Wisconsin Rapids spent a two weeks vacation with their grandparents, Rev. and Mrs. E. L. Wendling in Hayes.

Other news items:

Mr. and Mrs. Al Josefek and sons, Kirt and Bruce, of Brookfield, spent their vacation camping at the city park.  Mrs. Josefek is the former Bette Kirt of Oconto.

Mr. and Mrs. Willard Degeneffe and children of Milwaukee spent several days last week with his sister, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Malchow and family, Little River.  Ivan Degeneffe of Chicago, recently released from a Chicago hospital, who had been visiting his sister, Mrs. Edward Brabec, Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Degeneffe, Kenosha, and his brother at Milwaukee, accompanied them to Oconto where he will be a resident at the Newbury Rest home.

Miss Janice Malchow, Minneapolis, was at home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Malchow, over the weekend.

Recent visitors at the Lawrence Schneider residence were Mr. and Mrs. Russel Bottjer of Lakewood, Calif.  Mrs. Boettjer is the daughter of the Schneiders.  Other visitors were Mrs. Nina Seehus and son Jack of Receda, Calif, Mrs. Seehus is a sister of Mrs. Schneider and daughter of Mrs. Hattie Faulkner whom they also visited.

Mrs Guy Strang of Scottsdale, Ariz. Is making and extended visit with her mother, Mrs. Louise Patenaude and other relatives.

Mrs. Elmer Lear of Abrams visited Friday with her sister, Miss Dagmar Rasmussen.

Mrs. C. Kwapy of Wauwatosa, former Oconto resident, was a weekend guest at the home of Atty. And Mrs. Tom Donoghue.

Mrs. John Vogel of Portland, Oregon arrived in Oconto for an extended visit at the home of her sister, Mrs. Robert Moak and with Oconto Friends.  Mrs. Vogel is the former Gertrude Koeppen of Oconto.

Mrs. Walt McDonald of Hoisington, Kans. Arrived Friday for an extended visit at the home of her son, Atty. Tom Donoghue.

Mrs. Ralph Erickson and daughters Lynn and Julie of Denver, Colo. Arrived in Oconto for a months visit at the home of Mrs. Erickson’s parents , Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Bond.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed. L. Ondracek and son Larry of Milwaukee visited Saturday with Miss Dagmar Rasmussen.

Capt. And Mrs. John Rogers, who have been visiting at the parental homes of Clarence LaViolette of Oconto and Dr. Raymond Rogers of Menominee, Mich. Left Wednesday for San Antonio, Texas.

Mr. and Mrs. Ted Riewe of Sterling Ill. Are vacationing at the home of their father Julius Riewe.

Cmdr. And Mrs. Richard Markham and family of Great Lakes, who have been guests at the home of Mrs. Markham’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Ansorge left Tuesday for San Francisco, Calif., where they will embark for Sasebo Japan, where Comdr. Markham will be legal officer for Admiral Renken.

Miss Mary Mraz of Shawano is a guest at the home of her sister, Mrs. Irvin Belongia.

Mrs. Carl Johnson and son Vernon of Pollock, s. Dak. Were in Oconto last week to attend the funeral of her brother Walter Schwantz.  Mrs. Johnson is the former Cora Schwantz of Oconto.

Mr. and Mrs. Everett, Bud, Erieau and family of St. Paul, Minn. Were guests last week at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Erieau sr.

Mrs. R. C. Wawrzyniak and sons of Chicago are making an extended visit at the home of her mother, Mrs. Irvin Belongia.

Mr. and Mrs. Bob Jicha, Mrs. Henry Delcore, Mrs. David Matravers, Miss Emily Jicha, Mrs. Henry Stewart, Mrs. Irvin Belongia and Matt Clement were at Leopolis on Friday to attend the funeral of Paul Pivonka.

Mrs. Vernon Prenzler and family of Bloomington, Ill. Are vacationing with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Urquhart.
