Atty. Frank P. Megan of Oconto essumed the office of County Judge at the Courthouse Monday. 
 

Mr. and Mrs. Otto Uecker and daughter, Abigail, left Monday morning for Underhill where Mr. Uecker has purchased a cheese factory.
 

                                         VOLLMERS WED 54 YEARS TODAY

OCONTO FALLS, Wis. - Mr. and Mrs. Fred 
Vollmer will quietly celebrate their 54th wedding 
anniversary at their home today. A mass 
of thanksgiving was said this morning at 
8 o'clock at St. Anthony's Catholic church 
by Rev. F. J. Meichiors and breakfast was 
served for the children who are home for the
celebration. The wedding that took place 
54 years ago was a double one:
Mr. Vollmer's sister, Louise, being married to 
Theodore Schmitz at the same time. These 
two couples celebrated their silver weddings together, but death claimed the other bride five years ago.

Mr. Vollmer was born on May 24, 1859 in Calumet county while Mrs.
Vollmer formerly Annie Mary Gronis was born Aug. 23, 1861 in Fond du Lac
county.

Following their marriage they took up residence on a farm in Calumet
county and lived there for 21 years. The family then moved to a farm
near Lena where they resided until 1911, at which time they took up
residence in Oconto falls.

For eight years, Mr. Vollmer was employed in the paper mill and for
three in the power plant. In recent years he has been in the employ of
this city. Mr. and Mrs. Vollmer are very active.

Their eldest son, John is in Portland, Ore, as is their third daughter,
Mrs. Catherine Holmes is deceased, and the second, Tilly Ann is in
Lexington Ky. Fred is in California, Mrs. Theresa Mahoney of Chicago is
deceased, as is Mrs. Lena Uhlembrauch of Campbellsport.

Louisa entered the Holy family Convent at Manitowac about 20 years ago,
and is now known as Sister Mary Paul, located in Mingo Junction, Ohio.
Sister Mary Paul is an accomplished musician.

Aurelia, Mrs. W. C. Nelson, is a resident of San Francisco. The youngest
son Raymond, passed away 5 years ago, at Madison. Mrs. R. Nelson of
Cincinnati, was the former Madells Vollmer and Margaret is now Mrs.
Homer Moore of Wabeno. 

There are 14 grandchildren and 4 greatgrandchildren. Those here
for the anniversary are Mrs. R. B. Nelson, Cincinnati, Mrs. W. C. Nelson, 
San Francisco and Mrs. Homer Moore and children, Mary Ann and Dickey, Wabeno.
 

Wedding Announcement - Newspaper:

"At the nuptual high mass Wednesday morning ( June 2 1938 ) at ten o'clock in the St Michael's Catholic church of Suring, Miss Mavis Holl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. J. (Matthew) Holl, of town of How, became the bride of Anthony Otradovec, Green Bay, the son of Antone Otradovec (and the late Margaret Miller), town of How. The Rev. George M. Weix officiated. Lohgrin's wedding march was played by Mrs. A J. Drengler and "Ava Maria" was sung by Robert Drengler.

The maid of honor was iss Dorothy Bennett, of Wausa; the bride's maids were Rose Otradovec, sister of the groom, and Miss Loraine Holl, cousin of the bride.  Donna Holl, a niece of the bride , was flowergirl. 

The groom was attended by Charles Malueg (later to become the husband of Rose Otradovec - see above), of town of How, and Peter Holl of Green Bay. 

A wedding dinner was given for one hundred guests at noon at the home of the bride's parents. A wedding dance was held for the couple Wednesday evening at Gillett.  After the honeymoon the couple will make their home at 520 Columbus avenue, Green Bay, where the groom is employed by the F.C. Schilling company.

The bride is a graduate of Wausau high school with the class of '37 and the groom of the Suring high school with the class of '29.

Kaye (Mrs. was Kittie Holl Kaye - sister of the brides father, Matthew), Mr. and Mrs. Peter Holl and family, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Otradovec and family of Green Bay (groom's brother); Mr. and Mrs. Henry Smith, Mrs Louis Coptsch of Bonduel (bride's aunt - mother's side); Peter Otradovec of Oshkosh (brother of groom), and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Otradovec and family of Black Creek (brother of groom)."
