Mr. and Mrs. Louis Amore of Little River held an old fashioned New Years party for Mr. Amores brothers and sisters.  After the party Mr. Amore took the party for an old-fashioned cutter ride through the field where the snow was deep, and the sleigh bells ringing.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rhode entertained at a card party Saturday evening in honor of Mr. Rhodes birthday.

First prize in the holiday homes decoration contest was awarded by the judges to the O.P. Francis home on Madison st.

Mr. and Mrs. T.F. Reynolds left last week, by car, for San Antonio, Texas, where they will spend the winter.  Enroute they visited relatives at Madison and St. Louis, Mo.

Lena—Mrs. J.J. Smits was hostess to the Good Times club last Friday evening.  Mrs. A. Mathey was awarded first prize and Mrs. O.W. Brazeau second.

Mrs. H. Swiedarke entertained Thursday evening in honor of her birthday.

For the third successive year, the Oconto Falls High School dramatic group won the state play production championship in the finals at Madison Friday night.  The annual contest is sponsored by the Wisconsin High School Forensic association.  The winners offering was “The Knave of Hears.”  The cast includes Eugene Behling, Mary Alice Seigler, Dean Barnlund, Walter Schultheiss, Nathalie Peterson, Donald Peterson, Byron Kain, Monica Titel, Rachel Carroll, Alleen Ferner, Elizabeth Rusch, Marcella Krause, Maye Titel, Joyce Wright and Mavis Riemer.  Ethelyne Bahcall was unable to go to Madison because of illness and Phyllis Peterson filled her part.  Earl Kjer is director.

A search for Ernest Dohnal, 22 year old son of Frank Dohnal, County Line, who has been missing since July 7, has been started by the sheriff’s department.

W.W. Detert, head of the direct relief activities since the beginning of the county system in 1932, has resigned, to become superintendent of schools in Pewaukee.  He held the latter position in Oconto Falls from 1930 to 1932.  In addition to direct relief, Mr. Detert also supervised drouth relief in 1933 and 1934, until the rural rehabilitation and resettlement division was set up.  A.C. Seymour, former Manitowoc relief director, will succeed Mr. Detert in Oconto Falls.

Mrs. Margaret Karbon of Green Bay, Wis,  is  in  the  center of this picture of  triplet sisters who  got  together a few days ago at Altadena, Calif., for  the  first  time  in  19  years. They were born in 1898 at Oconto,  Wis.  The meeting was  in the home of  Mrs. Muriel  Morrison,  who  is  shown  at  the  left. The  third  sister,  Mrs.  Mildred  Harnetty  ( at  right ),  lives in San Diago, Calif.

   The parents  of these women are William and Nettie Forestal of  Oconto,  Wis.,  the    former residents  are a first cousins to Mrs. Minnie Martin and Mrs. T. F. Volk  of this city.

OCONTO FALLS, Wis. – Mr. and Mrs. John (Martin) Birr, who lived in this community for over 50 years, are moving to Neenah where Mr. Birr is employed as millwright for the Kimberly Clarke Paper company.  Mr. Birr worked in the local paper mill for over 25 years as millwright and at the time of the shutdown seven years ago was head millwright.   Since that time he has been in the employ of the Kimberly Clarke company.  Mr. and Mrs. Birr were married here 32 years ago (Feb. 18, 1904) by the Rev. H. Best.  They have both lived here all their lives.  Mr. Birr is 55 (July 12, 1880) and Mrs. Birr 52 (October 17, 1886 - nee: Nettie Marie Judd).  They are the parents of  seven children:  Lawrence, Howard and Myron, Oconto Falls; Mrs. Henry Radler and Miss Carlin Birr, Milwaukee; Gaylord, Minocqua, and Mrs. Lawrence Leach, Ashland.

Mr. Birr has been a member of the Masonic order for over 15 years, and is a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.  Mrs. Birr has been active in civic as well as social
affairs in the city.  She has been vice oracle and oracle of the R.N.A. society, Treasurer at present in the G.A. R. society, a member of the Easter Star and has been one of the Star points.  A member of the Oconto Falls Woman’s club, a member of the Foreign Missionary society, of the M.E. church and the Ladies Aid.

Members of the R.N.A. society gathered Wednesday afternoon at the Birr home and had a farewell party and handkerchief shower for Mrs. Birr.  Cards were played and a pot-luck supper served at 5 o’clock.  The Birrs expect to move the first of next week.

Lena, Coach Bob Noonan of the local high school was called to Oconto Friday by the death of his brother, John.

Mrs. Alfred Leroy celebrated her 80th birthday on December 14.

The Falls debate team, coached by Earl Kjer, won second place in the debate tournament at Shawano.

Harvey Arveson, branch manager of the Wadhams Oil Co. at Suring, has been transferred and Emil Behling of our city will be branch manager for this territory.

The farm home of Ed. Coffey was nearly destroyed by fire of an unknown origin on December 11.
