A reorganization of the police force of Kenosha this week resulted in the promotion of Patrolman Paul Rhode, a former Oconto boy and a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Rhode, who reside on Second street, to the office of Sergeant.
 

The Oconto City Womens club elected the following officers at their meeting Monday; Mrs. Earl Linger, president; Mrs. J.W. Runkel, vice president; Mrs. Floyd Nichols, secretary; Mrs. Charles Lingelback, treasurer; Mrs. Doyle Buckies, press correspondent; Mrs. A.V. Classon, direction, and Mrs. F.E. Mann, parliamentarian.

Robert Fulton won first place in oratory and Pauline Van Gaal second place in declamatory in league contest.

Suring—A number of friends and relatives gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Schuettpelz of Suring, Sunday evening and helped Mrs. Schuettpelz celebrate her birthday anniversary.
 

Miss Jean Riemer left Wednesday to spend a few days with her sister, Helen in Milwaukee.  She will return Saturday accompanied by her sister who will spend Easter here.

Sheriff Chris Hermsen and sister, Mrs. Anna Smits, attended the funeral of their brother, Frank Hermsen, at DePere, this week.
 

A Ford truck driven by John Mauritz of County Line crashed into a Hupmobile coach driven by Mrs. Lester Campbell Monday evening.  The impact hurled the coach over on one side but Mrs. Campbell managed to save her baby boy from injuries and escaped with a bad shaking up.

Little Suamico—Mr. and Mrs. Paul Huss and son, Archie, attended the graduation exercises in Oconto Falls Monday evening.  Their daughter, Miss Eleanor, was a member of the graduating class receiving her teachers certificate.
 

It took the Jury only 10 minutes to find that Henry Kebel was guilty of larceny.

Kebel and John Wells were arrested March 26, on the charge of stealing pay roll checks from Holt Lumber Co. camp near Townsend. The men were unable to engage an attorney and Judge Quinlan appointed Attorney A. A. Brazeau as counsel for the defense.

Kebel, who has quite a prison record, was sentenced by Judge Quinlan to “not less then one year nor more then ten years in the state penitentiary at Waupun”. As this is his third conviction for felony Kebel must serve at least eight years before applying for a pardon.

John Wells who was termed a “poor dupe and tool” of Kebel, the mastermind, by District Attorney Chase, was acquitted
 

Miss Helen LeComte won the title of “Miss Oconto” in the American Legion bathing beauty contest.

Neil Fulton, 15-year-old son of A.J. Fulton, demonstrated that he was an unusual long distance swimmer at the Sunday school conference held recently at Green Lake.  He was one of the few boys that swam across the lake, a distance of two and one half miles.

A crowd of 1500 attended the Wisconsin Cheese Federation picnic held Sunday in the Birr grove in the town of Morgan.

Little Suamico—David Wedgwood had the misfortune of breaking his arm while at work last week.

Raids in Oconto and Marinette counties Friday by twenty federal prohibition officers resulted in the arrest of fifteen saloonkeepers and employees.
 

Mrs. Edward Lemirande entertained seventy five relatives and friends at her home Wednesday evening at a miscellaneous shower to her sister, Miss Agnes Koski who will be married to Torval Westergaard on August 27.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Johnson, who reside at the North Bay Shore, celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary Sunday Sept. 25.

Mr. and Mrs. E.P. Beaudin entertained thirty five friends at their home Sunday in celebration of their little daughter, Allyn Marie’s fourth birthday anniversary.

Donald S. DeWitt has been appointed superintendent of Holt Lumber Company’s planning mill, in addition to his duties as superintendent of the Holt Hardwood Co. Mill.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kinsiger entertained a number of their friends Thursday evening, the occasion being their fifth wedding anniversary.

Miss Clara Adamski, superintendent of the Oconto Falls hospital for five years, took charge of the Oconto City and County hospital today.

Suring—The musical recital given by the pupils of Mrs. Ella Leunberger at the Suring village hall last Saturday evening, was enjoyed by a large audience.
 

As a result of playing with a gasoline lamp, little Stanley Cota, four year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Cota, is recovering from very severe burns in the Oconto hospital.
