Mrs. Max  Mack of the town of Armstrong was in the city today and received a bounty from the county clerk on a wolf which she captured herself.

The Whitney and Solway restaurant on Main Street was discontinued Tuesday.

Mrs. W.W. Starkey left Monday for Ashtabula, Ohio, where she will spend several weeks with her daughter, Mrs. A.G. Brown.  Mr. Brown, formerly of Oconto, is superintendent of the construction of a large ship building establishment and dry docks at Ashtabula Harbor.  She will also visit her brothers in Smithport and Galeton, Pa., before returning home.

Leo Laviolette and sister, Miss Ida, were tendered a surprise party at their home Monday evening by about thirty of their young lady and gentlemen friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Vaux of Isabel, S. D. arrived in the city last Saturday for a two weeks visit with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Lee.  Mrs. Vaux was formerly Lucille Lee.

Miss Josephine Schumacher will engage in the millinery business in the old Williams store on lower main street.

Reuben Hodgins of Maple Valley was in the city Monday and received a bounty on a wolf from county clerk Norton.

Breed—Miss Ruby LeVeque came up from Oconto Saturday to resumer her school duties in Dist. No. 1.

Lena—Mrs. Nellie Grant and Mrs. H. A. Tagatz left Monday to buy a stock of millinery preparatory to opening for business in the Lucas building formerly occupied by the K. & M. Cox millinery store.

Fire broke out in the old Spies sawmill Sunday at about two thirty a.m., burning it to the ground.

Mr. and Mrs. Willard Rhode left yesterday for Lakewood to take charge of the Holt Lumber Company’s farm near that place and Melvin Roy left for the same place to assume charge of the company’s ranch farm.

J.S. Neuville, carrier on rural route No. 2 made his trip Tuesday on an Indian motorcycle and will make another trial soon and then make a report to Washington on his success.  He expects to receive the approval of the department and have the machine in regular service after about May 1.

Oconto Falls will have a pickle factory.  This year they will pickle cucumbers only, but next year they expect to prepare other products.

Mr. and Mrs. Alex Arseneau of the town of Oconto have sold their farm and will leave next Tuesday for Dalhouise N. B. Canada, where they will reside permanently.

Miss Della Sorenson has left for Ellensburg, Wash. To spend the summer with her aunt.

Arthur Swaeraged  3 ½ years, was operated upon this morning having his tonsils removed.

Arthur Johnson of Mountain was in the city Tuesday and received the bounty on four wolf scalps.

William Tripp, Nich Strack, Mose Pocquette and Ernest Baldwin returned home last evening from a several days fishing trip on the North Branch.  They had fine luck.

Joseph Stoll Jr. of Stiles received bounty on two wolves last week from County Clerk Norton.

Earl, the four year old son of Mr. and Mrs. George Rugg, narrowly escaped death after having eaten rat poison.

Mr. and Mrs. William Strutz were agreeably surprised Sunday evening by about twenty five of their young lady and gentlemen friends to remind them of the first anniversary of their marriage at the home of Mrs. Strutzs parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Vendt.

S. L. Heyman has closed out his stock of goods here and leaves today to join his family in Chicago.

F.D. Candlish, who has been manager of the Wisconsin Telephone Company for some time, has resigned his position and is succeeded by Emil Peterson of Marinette..

Miss Eleanor Lee has been appointed to the position of clerk in the postoffice in this city and assumed her duties, Monday.  Miss Lee is filling the position left vacant by the resignation of Mrs. Frank Gardner, nee Miss Grace Classon.
