Breed Cheese Factory

It is located across the road from the
Breed Central Grade School. The house that my
parents lived in was once the Breed Cheese factory. In about
1930, my grandfather Joe Foral bought it and ran it until he was
sheriff of Oconto County. Then he sold it to my parents, Cass
and Dottie Fonferek. The property remained in the family until
2014. It was originally on the Old Highway 32 and what was
originally Fonferek Road before being named North Branch Road.

View
of Breed Main Street.
The store on the
right
is a general store. John Ponsegrau bought it from Art Kuehl
in the
late 1930's. It is still owned by the family. The
post office
was in the store. The tavern on the left was Flynn
Tavern.
Bill Flynn owned it at the time of the picture and was called the North
Star Hotel. Bill Flynn's brother Jim bought the property
after. Before
TV movies were shown in the upstairs. The patrons sat on
wooded benches.
Dances were also held there. John Ponsegrau's father-in law took the

He bought the store in 1938. Most of these pictures were taken by my

My Dad owned
