Wallace Whitcomb of Abrams Passes Away Sunday
VETERAN OF CIVIL WAR
Came to Pensaukee in Early Sixties, Enlisted in 1863, Served Till Close War - Resident Pensaukee Since.

Abrams, Wis., Nov. 28, 1906 - Wallace Whitcomb, one of the pioneers of the town of Pensaukee and Oconto county, died suddenly at this home near Abrams about two o'clock Monday morning aged 65 years.

He has been in apparent good health up to the time of his death with the exception of a little nervousness the last few days but a little after midnight Sunday night he became restless and Mrs. Whitcomb went to his bedside and found him breathing naturally but perspiring profusely and went to call her son sleeping in another room and on her return found him breathing his last.

Mr. Whitcomb came to Pensaukee in the early sixties and in 1863 enlisted in Company F, 12th Wisconsin Regiment and served until the close of the war being with Sherman in his march to the sea. After the close of the war he was engaged in lumbering on the Pensaukee river for a number of years but later occupied himself with farming which vocation he followed at the time of his death. In 1864, deceased was married to Elizabeth C. Barker who survives him together with four sons, Herb, Percy, Lester and Aaron and one daughter, Mrs. Wm. Nicholas. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. from the M. E. church at Brookside, Rev. Smith officiating with interment in Brookside cemetery.
