Wm. Phillips Burial Tuesday

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at St Mark's Episcopal church for William Phillips, 80, of 215 Scherer Ave, who died early Sunday morning at Oconto Memorial hospital following a heart attack.

He was born May 29, 1888 in Oconto, and was a lifetime resident. He married the former Lucy Sullivan May 7, 1910 in Menominee, Michigan. He owned and operated a dray line business with his brother Charles for many years, and also worked for Holt Lumber company and Oconto Brewing Company. For 10 years, Mr. and Mrs. Phillips operated the City Cab Company. In 1932 he build a confectionery shop on Second Street and continued its operation until his death. Mrs. Phillips died February. 1 this year.

He was a former county supervisor and second ward alderman.

Surviving him are two daughters, Eunice, Mrs. Wilfred Leneau, and Miss Marjorie Phillips, both of Oconto; two sons, Edmond of Oconto and Eugene, Milwaukee; five grand children and three great grandchildren.

The Reverend William Rademiller officiated at final rites. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery. A litany of the dead was held at MacQueen funeral home Monday evening. Pallbearers were Robert Brennen, Ben Kumhala, Alex Olson, Dyer Holyoke, Adam Marek and Walter Olson.
