Oconto Falls-
1940

The community was deeply shocked and grieved to learn Tuesday morning of the accidental death of William Lotter of this city. Mr. Lotter had gone to the farm now occupied by his son Joseph and family and was assisting with the repairs to a carrier track. He fell 30 feet to the barn floor, and suffered injuries so severe that he was pronounced dead soon after his arrival at the local hospital.

Mr. Lotter, who is survived by his wife, two daughters, Florence, Mrs. Fred Kamke and Caroline, Sister M Annelluf of Antigo, seven sons, John Joseph, Alois, Paul, Leo, George and Lawrence, and two brothers, the Rev. Paul Lotter of Odense, North Dakota and John in Florida and a sister, Sister Anthony Marie of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Last rites will be held at St. Anthony's church Friday morning at nine thirty with interment in the catholic cemetery. O'Neill funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lotter was a man of sterling character, and will be greatly missed, not only by his family, but by the entire community. The bereaved have the heartfelt sympathy of all in this sorrow.

Born in Austria in 1874, the deceased came to this country with his parents when a child of four years. His marriage to Catherine Stoffel took place in 1900 at Mackville. Before taking up farming in this community, Mr. Lotter operated a blacksmith shop at Hortonville. He retired from active farming and moved to Oconto Falls four years ago.

The deceased was a faithful member of St. Anthony's church and took an active part in its affairs. He was the treasurer of the church board and the Holy Name Society. The society attended the rites Friday in a body.
