The former Wendy R. Knight was born Aug 22, 1968, at Rockford, IL to the Rev. Robert and Nancy McCrillis Knight. Wendy graduated from Faith Christian School at Coleman in 1986 and was valedictorian of her class. She attended Liberty University at Lynchburg, Va., majoring in journalism. Wendy operated a day care center for a number of years, and also was a teacher's aide. She loved children, was an excellent flutist and received national recognition for her scholastic and athletic abilities. She attended First Evangelical Free Church, Rockford.
Survivors include her nine year-old son, Tarek James Farmer of Rockford; parents, The Rev. Robert and Nancy Knight of Colchester, IL; a sister, Kimberly (Jaime) Martinez, Rockford; two brothers, Kevin (Melodi) Knight, Cherry Valley, IL and Jason (Holly) Knight of Birmingham, MI; two nieces and six nephews; maternal grandparents, Wallace and Donna McCrillis and great-grandmother, Hilma Stevens, all of Beloit.
Wendy was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Robert E. and Doris L. Knight.
A Service of Christian Burial was held at 12 noon Monday, Nov. 20, 2000 at Berean Baptist Church Memorial Chapel, with The Rev. Dr Melvin Swanson, senior pastor, officiating. Interment was at East Lawn Cemetery, Beloit. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the Church.
