William J. "Bill"
William J. "Bill" Block, age 82, Coleman, passed
away on Friday, May 6, 2016 at the Woodlands of
Gillett Nursing Home.
Bill was born in Oconto Falls, WI on April 24, 1934,
a son of the late William and Orgena (Zarling)
Block. Bill was married to Ilene L. (Olson) in 1955,
and together they raised 8 children. The family
spent about 20 years in the Milwaukee area before
returning to Coleman and purchasing a farm. Bill
farmed for about 12 years and later ran Bill Block
Sales & Service, selling used cars.
Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman and
particularly enjoyed ice fishing. He was a big fan
of the Green Bay Packers, the Milwaukee Brewers and
the Wisconsin Badgers. Bill also loved playing all
types of sports with his children and grandchildren.
He will be sadly missed.
Bill is survived by his wife, Ilene, of over 60
years, his children: Bill (Laurel) Block of Pound,
Kendall (Diane) Block of Coleman, Kevin Block of
Oshkosh, Terry (Linda) Block of Crivitz, George
Block of Crivitz, Sandy (Larry) Bader of Coleman and
Lisa Wood of Hiles, WI. He also leaves his siblings:
Arnold (the late Joyce) Block of Gillett, Leonard
and Carolyn Block of Gillett, Darlene (Tom) Konitzer
of Mississippi, Norman "Buddy" (Judy) Block of
Jackson, WI and a sister-in-law Shirley Block of
Gillett. Bill will be fondly remembered by many
grandchildren and great-grandchildren, other
relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in
death by his son, Randy, a brother Kenneth, an
uncle, Emile Block and his brother-in-law Gilbert
Olson.
Friends and relatives may call on Tuesday, May 10,
2016 from 9 to 10:45 AM at ST. JOHN'S EVANGELICAL
LUTHERAN CHURCH-The Clock Church (100 W. Main
Street, Gillett, WI). A funeral service with Pastor
Doreen Jeffers will be held at 11 AM. Final rest
will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.
