LITTLE SUAMICO PIONEER
William Grosse, Sr., Passed Away Friday, September 9

SETTLED THERE IN 1852
Constant Resident Since That Date-Is Survived By a Wife and Three Children.

(From our Little Suamico correspondent.)

With deep sympathy , we would chronicle the death of William Grosse, one of our oldest settlers in Little Suamico, who died suddenly of paralysis or heart failure on Friday, September 9 and was buried Monday, September 12.

He was nearly sixty-six years old, having been born in Sidene, near Berlin, Germany, October 21, 1838. In 1849 he left Germany with his parents and brothers, John, Gust, and Charles, coming to Green Bay on the 15th of May, where they remained for three years and then moved to Little Suamico, where they have lived since. In 1878 he married Miss Ernestine Fisher of Bay Settlement, who with three children, Frank, William and Martha, survives him. The eldest Frank being married to a Miss Pasteur of Green Bay.

His remains were interred in Grosses's private cemetery, a large number of friends from Green Bay, Marinette and adjoining towns attending the funeral. How he was beloved by all was shown by the attendance at the funeral and the many beautiful flowers."

This clarification of the above was printed one week later in the Oconto County Reporter: "Our mistake, Miss Pasteur should have been Miss Platten."
