He was born March 19, 1905 in Oconto. He married Violet Mealy on May 3, 1927; she died on March 6, 1987. He was a commercial fisherman from 1925 to 1955. He worked at the Oconto Brewery from 1955 until retiring in 1965. He was a member of the First American Lutheran Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Bonnie (Vernon "Lefty") Milan, of Oconto, June (James) Milan, of Oconto, Mary (Lowell) Carl, of Menomonee Falls, Wis.; one son, Gary (Carole) Zimmerman, of Madison; one brother, Alfred Zimmerman, of Oconto, one sister, Ann (Cordes) Livermore, of Oconto; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends called at the Gallagher Funeral Home in Oconto. Funeral services were held at the church. Rev. Merle Ries officiated.
Burial in the Brookside Cemetery.
