Walter A. Klukas, 83, of N 2844 Belgium Rd., Coleman died Thursday, February 1, 2001 at NEW Care Convalescent Center, Crivitz.

The son of the late Otto B. and Augusta Perry Klukas was born August 28, 1917 at Beloit, WI. He was a graduate of Crivitz High School. Wally was employed by International Harvester, Chicago, IL and he then enlisted in the U.S. Army and later transferred to the Army Airforce. He completed 50 missions in Italy, Germany, Romania and was stationed in N. Africa with the 99th Bomb Group 416th Squadron. Following his service during WWII he worked for Loomis Garage with his brother, Carl; then he worked for Woulf Motors, Pound; Jack Skowland Motors, Peshtigo; Orlando Super Service, Coleman; Frigo Truck Repair, Lena; Highway Motors, Coleman; and retired as custodian at Coleman High School. He was married to the former Olga Landeen on May 24, 1944 at Alliance, Nebraska. Wally was a 50 year plus member of the Kalbes-Seewald American Legion Post #280, Coleman; Chapter 1491 of the 40 Et & 8, Marinette County; a founding member of the Coleman Rescue Squad, Village Constable, Special Deputy of the Marinette County Sheriff Dept.; member of the Coleman Sportsmen's Club, and a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Coleman.

Surviving are his wife, Olga; three children, Walter Alan Paula, of Green Bay, Kim Marie of Coleman, and SM/SGT Martin S. Peggy, of Mannheim, Germany; two granddaughters; one brother, Adolph Esther Klukas of Coleman; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter and son-in-law, Donna Jean and John Rynish; two brothers, Carl and Otto.

Friends called at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Coleman on Sunday. Funeral service was held Monday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Coleman. Rev. Gregory Stahlecker officiated.
