Virginia Wirtz, popular and talented Oconto Falls High School student, died Wednesday at Wisconsin General Hospital, Madison. She was 16 last May 22.

Virginia was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Wirtz, Oconto Falls. A junior class student this year, she had attended Oconto Falls High only one day when a liver ailment forced her to remain at home. She went to the hospital nearly three weeks ago.

The body is at the O’Neill Funeral Home, where friends may call this evening. The Rosary will be recited at 8 pm Friday night and the Rev. Edward Haessly will conduct the last rites in St. Anthony Catholic Church at 9 am Saturday morning. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery.

Virginia was active in her high school band and mixed chorus, and was an accompanist for soloists. She was a member of the Gleaning staff, the school paper, and of the Library Club. As a sophomore she was class secretary. While attending St. Anthony School Virginia sang in the junior choir of her church, and the last three years she was in both the junior and senior chores. She was an assistant organist at the church. She was also a part time office employee at the Oconto County Cooperative here. Survivors besides her parents are two sisters, Carol and Meredith, and a brother, Dennis, all at home, and her grandparents, Mrs. Josephine Bartlett and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wirtz Oconto Falls.
