T.E. Couillard Is Buried Wednesday
Life Long Resident of Couillardville Dies Sunday Following Heart Attack

Oconto County lost on of its oldest and most highly respected citizens last Sunday morning about 9:30, when Thomas Edwin Couillard succumbed very suddenly to a heart attack.

Mr. Couillard had apparently been in good health considering his age. Had he lived, he would have observed his 80th birthday anniversary today. The deceased was born in Couillardville April 20, 1859, and lived his entire life there. He owned the first automobile in the neighborhood, the first cream separater and the first silo.

Always interested in the affairs of his town and county, he served them many years as clerk, assessor, chairman and county board member.

He was married July 2, 1881 to Mary Ann Matravers, who also was a resident of Couillardville. They were privileged to celebrate their 57th wedding anniversary before her death following a heart attack on Oct. 23, 1938.

Mr. and Mrs. Couillard were the parents of three children. Mrs. D. J. Laduron (Zora) of Brookside, Mrs. L. R. Fox (Nellie) of Columbus and Asa, who preceded then in death Nov. 18, 1936.

Other survivors are four grandchildren, Mrs. E. Janssen of Green Bay, Mrs. Arnold Ziesmer of Milwaukee, Edwin Couillard of Manitowoc and Beverly Jean Laduron of Brookside; three great grand-children Dean and Gail Janssen of Green Bay and Gloria Ann Ziesmer of Milwaukee.

Mr. Couillard was a very active member of the Couillardville Presbyterian church and of the I.O.O.F. Lodge of Oconto.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at one o'clock in the afternoon from the home in Couillardville and at two o'clock from the Presbyterian church in Oconto, Rev. Watters of Green Bay officiating. Mrs. Edward Maceson was the soloist. Pallbearers were; Arthur Leigh, Chester Leigh, Guy Couillard, Art Matravers, Andrew Couillard and Patrick Carey.

The deceased was laid to rest in the family lot at Evergreen cemetery, the I.O.O.F. Lodge taking charge of the ceremony there. The flower girls were Jean Laduron, Ilma Chesley, Doris Caldwell, Dorothy Leigh, Myrtle Carey and Kathleen Carey.
