TOM TAIT,
FALLS CIVIC LEADER
DIES SATURDAY

Oconto Falls – An illness of three months duration with a heart ailment was brought to a close at one o'clock Saturday morning when Thomas C. Tait, 46, passed away at Community Memorial Hospital. Mr. Tait had lived in Oconto Falls since 1936, operating his feed and fuel company and more recently the locker plant on Washington Street. He served the City of Oconto Falls as Mayor from 1940 until 1944, and was the first chairman of the county ration board. He did an excellent job while serving as secretary of the St. Anthony's Cemetery Association. He was a past president of the Kiwanis Club and the Junior Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Tait was born in New Richmond, Wisconsin on November 10, 1906. He attended the grade and high school in that city, and graduated from the Wisconsin State College at River Falls.

He was married to the former Miss Mary Padden of New Richmond who survives him. He also leaves to mourn his untimely passing, three daughters, Mary Carol, Claudette and Jean Ann and two sons, Thomas, Jr., and John.

The remains rested at the O'Neill Funeral Home where the Holy Name Society of the parish, of which the deceased was an active member, recited the rosary on Sunday evening.

Requiem rites were conducted at St. Anthony's church at nine o'clock on Monday morning by the Rev. Joseph Labno. Interment took place in the Catholic cemetery with Messrs. Howard Eslien, Stanley Schmidt, Arthur O'Dan, Martin Golden, Melvin Yost and Ted Higgins carrying the casket.

Words are inadequate to express the sympathy felt for the bereaved wife and children.
