Thos. H. Couillard, who died the fourteenth of June alst was one of the earliest pioneers of Oconto Co. He was born at Corinna, ME, October 22nd, 1894 (type-o: should be 1824, obit is in 1894) He spent part of his younger days in hin native state, where in 1845 he married Miss Adeline Lawrence of Bangor ME. He lived in Maine until1849 when he and his father (Thomas Howard Couillard Sr.) migrated with their families to Milwaukee, Wis., where he engaged in the shingle business. A short time afterward he moved to Oconto Falls, returning to Milwaukee in 1850. In 1852 he removed to Oconto Co, localing seven miles west of this city. Since that time he had resided in Oconto County and aided in the building up of his town in which he held different offices. He also employed as scaler for the Holt & Balcom Lumber Co. for many years. The last 14 years of his life he spent on his farm where he died. He was a kind and loving husband, and indulgent father, a good neighbor, and a thoroughly honest and temperate man in all things. His last sickness was brief, his disease being a complication of different maladies. A widow and ten grown children, who deeply mourn his demise, survive him.
