Friends of Mrs. Joseph Porter are deeply sympathizing with her over the death of her father, Thomas Carroll of Long Beach, California. Mr. and Mrs. Carroll were at the home of their son Bernard watching television on Friday evening when he was stricken with a heart attack and passed away in a very short time.

Mr. Carroll, who was 62, was born in this community and lived here until nine years ago when the family moved to the west coast. Mrs. Carroll, who is the former Lena Larson, is also a native of Oconto County.

He is survived by his wife, three sons, Bernard of Long Beach, Clayton and John of Los Angeles, and three daughters, Hazel, Mrs. Fred Wahl and Miss Marcella Carroll of Los Angeles and Rachel, Mrs. Joseph Porter of the Falls; five brothers; Jack Carroll of Green Bay, George of DePere, Eugene, Simon and Irving of Long Beach, and two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Reardon and Mrs. Eva Maloney, both of Rhinelander; a number of grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Funeral rites were held in Long Beach on Monday morning. Mr. Carroll has many friends in Oconto Falls who are mourning his death, and who extend deep sympathy to the family.
