He was born October 12, 1922 on the family farm in the Town of Oconto, to the late Joseph and Regina Cota. He attended Victory Grade School, Oconto High School and Michigan Technical School where he received engineering training. He worked on the farm until he became employed at J. I. Case Co. of Racine, WI. He worked at Case for over 35 years, retiring in 1980. Stanley then moved to Oconto to make his home with his parents. His favorite pastimes were gardening, feeding and watching birds, making bicycle and lawn mower repairs, cooking and making chocolate fudge candy. He was a member of Oconto Gospel Chapel.
He is survived by a sister, Shirley (Chester) Staidl of rural Oconto and a brother, Lloyd (Doris) Cota of Cape Coral, FL; six nieces, Barbara Jorgensen, Marcia Staidl, Judy Ferris, Karen Czarnecki, Donna DeMille and Helen Ehnerd; three nephews, Charles Staidl, Terry Cota and Steven Cota; several grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Florence; and three brothers, LeRoy, Gerald and Maurice. There was no visitation. Graveside memorial service will be held in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery, Oconto. The Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto is in charge of the arrangements.
