The deceased was the wife of the late H.D. Whitcomb, former county board chairman and sheriff of Oconto county, and the mother of former Assemblyman A. J. Whitcomb, both preceded her in death, her husband H.D. Whitcomb in Feb. 1934 at the age of 84.
Mrs. Whitcomb was born in New York state July 19, 1852 and came to Wisconsin with her parents at the age of 9 years and settled in Portage county. She came to Oconto county in 1871 and was united in marriage to H. D. Whitcomb in 1873.
Six children were born of the union, four of whom survive, Lester of Little Suamico, Mrs. Etta Bent of Eagle River, Wis; Mrs. Irvin Robinson of Green Bay, and Harry Whitcomb of Burbank, California. In addition to the above survivors are fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Mrs. Whitcomb was the last to survive a family of six children born to Mr. and Mrs. Milo Porter of Portage County. She was also the oldest.
Funeral Services were held at the St. Joseph's Catholic church in Oconto, Saturday, Sept. 22, with interment in the Brookside Cemetery.

Oconto, Wis -- Mrs. Susan Whitcomb, 95, died early Thursday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Irvin Robinson, 506 N. Ashland avenue, Green Bay. She was born in New York July 10, 1852, and had resided in Oconto County for 73 years.
The body was removed to the Gallagher Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Saturday morning at St. Joseph's church with Rev. M. G. Alt officiating. Burial will be in the Brookside Cemetery.
Rev Alt will lead the rosary at 7:30 Friday evening at the funeral home.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Etta Bent of Eagle River, and Mrs. Robinson, Green Bay; and two sons, Lester Whitcomb of Abrams, and Harry Whitcomb of Burbank Calif. Fourteen grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren also survive.
