Stella B. Poradek, 91, of Kenosha, died Friday October 6, 2000 at Aurora Medical Center.

Born on June 9, 1909 in Hickory, WI, she was the daughter of the late William and Nora (Rouleau) Phillips. She attended schools in Hickory, WI and resided most of her life in Oconto, WI. In later years, she wintered in Arizona and spent summers in Oconto with her daughter. She was a clerk in numerous grocery stores working until she was about 70 years old. In 1934, she married John Housner in Oconto, where they lived until his death on April 26, 1958. On May 1, 1980, she married Maynard Poradek in Arizona. He preceded her in death on August 24, 1992. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Oconto.

Survivors include two sons, James (Phyllis) Phillips, of Bella Vista, AR; John (Nancy) Housner, of Kenosha, WI; a daughter, Betty (Don) Laabs, of Casa Grande, AZ; one brother, Wilford (Zelma) Phillips, of Kent, WA; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her two husbands, John Housner and Maynard Poradek; one son, Dan Housner, and one daughter, Phyllis Laabs; four sisters, Mabel Zanger, Marie McMahon, Grace McMahon and Lucille Blazek; one brother, Richard Phillips.

Funeral services were Tuesday, October 10 at 1 p.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus-Thulin Funeral home, 3720 - 39th Avenue, Kenosha. Interment St. George Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday from 12 noon until the time of the service.
