Sharon Hanson(1942 - 2016)

Sharon Hanson age 73 of Suring passed away at Woodland Village Nursing Home on Friday, January 29, 2016. She was born on March 19, 1942 to the late Charles and Lucinda (Long) Phillips. Sharon Phillips married Orvel Hanson on June 11, 1960. She was the Head Baker for the Suring Public School for 17 years, she then worked at Woodland Village Nursing Home and their assisted living and she was also a home health caregiver. She enjoyed visiting with friends at Lavern and Gail's Diner, making crafts, going on rides and out to eat with Yvonne and Jim and she especially loved her dog, Happy.

Sharon is survive by her 2 daughters, Yvonne (Jim) Elbe of Suring, Louise (Glen) Klatt of Gillett; her brother, Russ (Jean) Phillips of Sheboygan Falls; her sister-in-law, Helen Genke of Sturgeon Bay; 5 grandchildren, Michele, Rochele, Jaimie, Heather and Tyler; 5 great-granchildren, Cory, Genay, Alisha, Haley and Hannah and 1 great-great-grandson, Major. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orvel Hanson on February 20, 1995; her sister, Mabel; 2 brothers, Leslie and Harold; 2 great-grandchildren, Britany and Austin.

Visitation will be held at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring on Monday, February 1, 2016 from 11 am until the funeral service at 1 pm with Pastor Kevin Kuhn officiating. She will be interred next to her husband Orvel in Frostville Cemetery. Online condolences can be expressed at www.gruetzmacherfuneralhome.com

Special thank you to Woodland Village Nursing Home and their staff for the wonderful care they offered to Sharon and making her feel like she was at home. Also a special thank you to Heartland Hospice and its staff and especially Bill.

A memorial fund has been established for Oconto Humane Society.
