Dies at 108
SUZY
Susan Mechaquette, 108-year-old resident of the city and
probably the oldest Wisconsin resident, died shortly after noon Wednesday.
She had been ill since last spring.
She would have celebrated her 109th birthday anniversary
Dec. 26 this year. Funeral services will be held from St. Peter's Catholic
church Saturday morning with Rev. Byron Belongia officiating. The body
will remain at Gallagher's Funeral home until Friday morning when it will
be taken to the home of Mrs. Mary Burke, where the aged lady had been living
since her illness several months ago.
She is survived by three granddaughters, of whom
Mrs. John Belongia of this city is one, and six grandsons.
"Suzy" voted for the first time in her life at the
age of 106 years in the spring election of 1938.
