Sheila L. Postel
Sheila L. Postel, 67, Green Bay resident, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2015 after a long battle with ovarian cancer. She was born on January 9, 1948 in Oconto Falls to the late Russell O'Connor and Irma Mae (Clark) Cota. After her father's death at a young age, her mother married Elmer "Stub" Cota. She graduated from Gillett High School with the class of 1966 and then earned her Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics from UW-Stout. On June 15, 1968, she married Richard "Dick" Postel at St. John's Catholic Church in Gillett. Sheila was a Family and Consumer Education teacher at Luxemburg-Casco Middle School for 32 years, retiring in 2003. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and was an avid reader. Sheila met many friends while she was pursuing these activities. After her retirement, she worked at Life's A Stitch in De Pere where she taught classes and did general sales. She was an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Postel, Green Bay; children, Sarah (McKenzie) Denis, Green Bay; Stephen Postel, Green Bay; grandchildren, Brayden Denis and Trevor Denis; brothers, Jerry (Nancy) O'Connor, Camarillo, CA; Dennis (Madeline) O'Connor, Green Bay; step sister, Sandy Cota, Peshtigo; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her father, mother and step father, she was preceded in death by her brother, David O'Connor.
Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday at Ascension Lutheran Church, 2911 Libal St., from 1:00 to 2:45 p.m. Funeral service 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the church with Pastor Lori Swenson officiating. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund is being established.
The family would like to thank Dr. Tammela and the staff at GYN Oncology at St. Vincent Hospital who cared for Sheila during her illness. Also a special thank you to Unity Hospice for all their care and compassion.
