Stanley Louis Kulczyski, 85, of Carter, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at his home after a long battle with illness.

Stan was born in Armstrong Creek, WI on December 15, 1915, the son of Joseph and Kristina Mostova Kulczyski. After school, he worked at the Connor Lumber and Land Company for a time. On June 26, 1937, he married Verna 'Sis' McDaniel at Saint Stanislaus Kostka Church in Armstrong Creek. In 1945, he moved to Grafton where he came under the employ of the Voss-Hardicka Construction Company. There he started as a carpenter and worked his way up to supervisor before retiring in 1981, working for them for 36 years. He moved to Carter after retirement and has been a resident there since.

He enjoyed the outdoors, taking advantage of the northwoods for its hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed time spent gardening and growing flowers. When the weather would not permit him to be outdoors, he was content to tinker in his garage. Stan is survived by his wife Verna 'Sis'; his son, Stanley Marlene Kulczyski, Jr. of Grafton, WI; his daughter, Jean Harvey Proefrock of Grafton; four grandchildren and their spouses; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James Louis; two sisters Delores and Josephine; and a brother, Peter.

Friends may call upon the family on Tuesday, April 17, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Suminski Funeral Home in Wabeno. A parish vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. that evening. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church in Wabeno. Interment to take place on Saturday, April 21, at 10 a.m. at the Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg.
