Svea was born November 6, 1923 in Evanston, Illinois the daughter of the late Sven and Hildur (Olson) Johnson. On April 28, 1946 she married Joseph Pestka. They lived in Evanston, Illinois until moving to Mountain 25 years ago. While living in Mountain, Svea was a member of the VFW Auxiliary 2119. Svea loved nature, especially birds. She will be remembered for her radiant smile even during her illness. Svea was a very loving mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Joe; one daughter, Ellen (Daniel) Prickril, Pulaski; one son, William (Phyllis) Pestka, Evanston, IL; one sister, Mildred (Arthur) Day, Bakersfield, CA; four grandchildren Eric (Sonya) Pestka, Shawn Pestka, Brian Prickril and fiancee Karen, Christopher (Patty) Prickril; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Cassidy.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation was held on Saturday, February 10 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church Lakewood. Funeral services were at the church at 2 p.m. Saturday, with Pastor Linda Martin officiating. Interment will be at the Mountain Cemetery in the spring. Suminski Funeral Home, Wabeno is assisting the family with arrangements.
