SAMUEL COUILLARD, PIONEER RESIDENT, CLAIMED BY DEATH

This (Thursday) afternoon at 2 o'clock funeral services were held for Samuel James Couillard, 80, who died Monday Morning at 11:50 (Sept. 22, 1932) at the home of his son, Guy Couillard, town of Oconto, from the Presbyterian church at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Starr H. Lloyd officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery.

The paullbearers were: Asa Couillard, Arthur, Alvin and Merle Matravers, and Vane and Vance Couillard.

Mr. Couillard's death was caused by diseases incident to old age. He had been ailing for a long time but was seriously ill two months.

Samuel James Couillard was born April 25, 1852 at Milwaukee. When six months of age he came to the town of Oconto with his parents and has resided here since. On March 8, 1879 he married Matilda Matravers.

Survivors are the widow; seven children: Mrs. Lucy Whitcomb and James Couillard of St. Paul, Minn.; Mrs Arthur Meincke and Mrs. Martin Vlies of Oconto; Mrs. Paul Laduron, Green Bay; and Guy and Andrew at home; 12 grandchildren; two brothers: Timothy of Oconto and Charles, whereabouts unknown; and two sisters, Mrs. Alfred LaCourt of Sagola Mich., and Mrs. John Williams of Everett, Wash.
