Mrs. Sophia Bartels died at the home of her son, F. H. Bartels, in Grover, Tuesday. She was a widow and had her home with her son from the time her second husband died. She was one of the earliest settlers of this county having moved here over forty years ago. She was born in Germany in 1808 and if she had lived until her next birthday she would have reached the advanced age of ninety-two. The funeral was held from her late home Friday afternoon at two o’clock.
