Ruth Mae Belongia, 97, of Oconto, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013 at San Louis Manor, Green Bay. Ruth was born March 13, 1916 in Oconto to the late Holger and Hattie (Blank) Petersen. She married Isaac Belongia on February 18, 1939. He preceded her in death on March 22, 1945. One of Ruth’s loves was baking cakes and cookies for family and friends. She was also proud of the chicken pie she made for the church dinner. Ruth was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Oconto, and the Guild Circle. Ruth is survived by two sons, Jack (Patricia) Belongia, Suamico; Robert (Sue) Belongia, Green Bay; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Petersen, Appleton; four grandchildren, Kellie Belongia, Beth Ann (John) Courtney, Jodi (David) VanErem, Allan (Sandy) Belongia; five great-grandchildren, Jenna, Brynn, Claire, Vincent and Veda. She is also survived by her two God children Jeri Pack and Larry Rouse, many nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends at the First Presbyterian Church, Oconto, from 9 to 11:30 AM Monday, March 25, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted 11:30 AM Monday at the church with the Rev. Craig Alwin officiating. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net.
