Oconto Falls - The requiem mass was intoned Wednesday morning at St. Anthony’s Catholic church for Raymond John Nelson, 58. The Rev. Paul Kreczarek was the officiating pastor and burial took place in the Catholic cemetery with Messrs, Ervin Knope, Bill Teteak, Sr., Hubert Curran, Oscar Kardoskee, Curtis Tracey and Leonard Durocher carrying the casket to its resting place.

Mr. Nelson was born January 5, 1901, in the Town of Spruce, the son of the later Mr. and Mrs. William Nelson. His marriage to the former Florence Thielke took place in Gillett in 1928. He became a cheesemaker, and for 19 years operated the Degantown cheese factory. In 1947, they moved to Oconto Falls and he began working at the Falls Paper and Power Company. He was known as a most conscientious worker.

He was active in church, and civic affairs, being a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Holy Name society, the Falls Sportsmen’s club, serving on the Water and Light commission, and as an official of paper mill employees organization.

Survivors are his wife, two sons, David, of Okinawa, and Harley of Green Bay; a brother, Lt. Commander Arnold Nelson of Bethesda, Maryland, a sister, Miss Lida, of Oconto and two grandchildren. A daughter Coleen, and a little grandson proceeded him in death

The family has the sincere sympathy of all in this bereavement.
