He was born August 9,1953 in Oconto to John and Carol (Presl) Leigh. Richard was a 1971 graduate of Lena High School and was married to Marjorie Wondrash on March 24, 1973 at the former St. Charles Church, Lena. He was a machine tool programmer for a local boat manufacturing business. He served in the U.S. Army and was a former school board president for St. Charles Catholic School in Lena. He was a member of Holy Cross Church, Lena.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; four daughters; Luana Leigh, Mary Jo Leigh, Susan Leigh and Donna Leigh, all at home; his parents; John and Carol Leigh of Oconto; four sisters, Diane (Robert) Shallow of Oconto, Cheryl (Dennis) Svejda of Lena, Sandy (Mark) O'Conner of Oconto and Brenda (John) Beschta of Oconto.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Frank and Kathryn Presl and his paternal grandparents, Chester and Nellie Leigh.
Visitation was held at Holy Cross Church, Lena, after 10:00 a.m. Saturday. Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Harry Beerntsen officiating. Burial in St. Charles Cemetery, Town of Lena. Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Lena assisted the family with arrangements.
