Robert John "Bob" GUNTHER

Robert John "Bob" Gunther, 72, of Mountain, WI died on May 12, 1999. Bob was born January 30, 1927 in Milwaukee, the son of Ray and Sylvia (Leshek) Gunther. On September 25, 1968 he married Wilma Steinbach.

Bob served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was formerly a Postmaster in the Milwaukee area retiring in 1982 after 30 years of service. He was a former member of the American Legion. After his retirement in 1982 they moved to Lakewood, WI where he was a faithful servant of St. John Lutheran Church, Townsend and served as an elder and a member of the church choir.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Wilma; daughters Linda (Frank) Vantaggi, Green Lake, WI; Judy (Bill) Simon, Milwaukee; son Wayne (Mary) Gunther, Mequon, WI; brother John (Kathy) Gunther, Houlton, WI; step-children Robert (Judy) Bartlein, Santa Barbara, CA; Richard (Rea) Bartlein, Mequon; Barbara (George) Brooky, Milwaukee, and Debra (Larry) Schraidt, Milwaukee; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Bob will be dearly missed by his family, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held on Friday, May 14, 1999 from 4-7 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Townsend. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with Pastor Gary Bratz officiating. Interment at Lakewood Forest Cemetery.

Memorials appreciated to St. John Lutheran Church memorial fund or the American Diabetes Association, Wisconsin Affiliate. Suminski Funeral Home, Wabeno assisted the family.
