Ronald J. Garrity, Sr., 64, Wabeno, formerly of Green Bay, died Friday, March, 3,2000.

He was born September 8, 1935, to the late John and Gertrude (Hagens) Garrity, in Green Bay. He graduated from St. Norbert College in 1957. On June 15, 1957, Ron married Mary Lou Compton. Ron and his father, John founded Bay State Auto Parts in 1960. He operated the business with his father and brother, Gerald until his retirement in 1993. Ron was a very generous supporter of the President's Club of St. Norbert's college. He was also a member of the Catholic Order of Forresters, the Wabeno Lions Club and served on the Board of Directors of the Roberts Lake Association.

Ron had a special love for his cottage on Roberts Lake near Wabeno, moving his home there after his retirement. A devoted husband and family man, Ron especially enjoyed his grandchildren. He participated in bowling, golfing, and fishing and followed a wide variety of sports and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. Ron was an active fund-raiser for various organizations and was a devoted member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Howard and St. Ambrose Church in Wabeno.

Ron is survived by his wife, Mary; his children and their spouses, Richard and Laurie Garrity, Wausau; Randy and Judy Garrity, Oneida; Ronald Jr. and Jane Garrity, Green Bay; Robert Garrity and his special friend, Scott Wilson, De Pere; Melinda and Michael Ruby, Suamico.

Friends called at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., Green Bay where a parish wake service was held. Mass of Christian burial was held 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave., in the Village of Howard, with the Rev. Gregory Smith officiating. Burial at Fort Howard Memorial Park.
