Russell Henry Bitters, 42, Oconto, died unexpectedly Tuesday, July 24, 2001 as a result of a fire.
Russ was born to Roger L. and Rita (Degeneffe) Bitters January 23, 1959 in Oconto. He graduated from Lena High School and also received a degree at the Missouri Auction School. Russ was an auctioneer and a real estate agent for many years.
Russ is survived by his daughter, Jenna, Oconto; his parents, Roger and Rita, Oconto; seven brothers and sisters, Roger R. "Chip" and Lori Bitters, Ocoonto; Randy Bitters, Williamson, NY; Renee and John Meissner, Little Chute; Robin Bitters and Al Valitchka, Oconto; Roseann and Tom Stenstrup, Oconto, Roni Su and Jim Sharkey, Oconto; Risa and John Goodwin, Lacey, WA; eight nieces and two nephews. Russ was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Eva Degeneffe and Henry and Mabel Bitters.
Friends called at the Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, 121 Chicago St., Oconto, Friday, July 27, 2001. Parish vigil service was held. The funeral Mass was held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, corners Park and Madison, Oconto at 11 a.m. Saturday with Father David Ruby officiating. Interment at Oconto Catholic Cemetery.
