Death ended the career of Richard F. Zuehlke, 72, a life long member of the democratic party and pioneer resident of Suring, at 12:45 am Tuesday, July 11, at his home, where he passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack after an illness of two years. The deceased was a well known political figure in the county, since coming here from Cecil in 1897.

He served as a member of the county board for about 30 years previous to 1932, and was the first supervisor from the village of Suring when it was incorporated 25 years ago. Previous to then he represented the town of How as chairman on the county board. He also served as a trustee on the Suring village board and was a member of the Suring school board for a number of hears. In 1908 he received the appointment as vice president of the Suring State Bank and served in that office until 1937, when he resigned due to ill health. He also represented the Democratic party as committeeman for this district for years.

He was Born in Germany on March 22, 1867 and came to this county with his parents when one year old and settled at Cecil. He came to the town of How in 1897. Then he came to Suring in 1900. Two years later he erected a tavern and conducted that business up to the time of his death. He was married in Wausau to Sarah Jane Best when a young man and she preceded him in death a number of years ago. He was again married about 23 years ato to Meta Yakel who survived him, also two sons, Woodrow and Robert, and one daughter, Bernadine. Burial will be in Mt. Olive cemterey in the town of How.

Funeral services for Frederick Bartz, 88, pioneer backwoodsman of Oconto county, who died Tuesday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Horace Herald, will be held Friday afternoon at the Lutheran church, Mountain, Wis., with interment in the parish cemetery. Bartz was born in Prussia October 19, 1845 and came to this country in 1882, settling in northern Oconto county, when that part of the state was still a wilderness. There he lived until three and a half years ago, coming at that time to Oconto to live with his daughter. Survivors are four dautghters, Mrs. William Green, Lakewood, Wis. Mrs. Charles Minor, Richmond California, and Mrs. H. Herald, Oconto; four sons, Albert, William, Otto and Harry, all of Mountain.
