Rodean E. SURING

Rodean E. Suring, 80, resident of Suring died November 11, 1998. He was born August 8, 1918 in the Town of How to the late Charles and Mary (Firgens) Suring. Rodean was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Hayes in 1940 where he was currently a member. He was involved in farming for the first 50 years in How Township. After moving to Suring he worked for Union Hardware Co., as Caretaker at Oconto County Park Chute Pond for two seasons, was maintenance man at Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya for eight years, and was Dump Attendant for the Village of Suring. He then slowed down to Volunteer work. He married Mavis Suring May 11, 1940.

Survivors include his wife Mavis of Suring; one son, Lee (Gloria) Suring of Suring; two daughters, Carol (Richard) Nelson of Gillett, Margaret (Richard) Straka of Wauwatosa; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Deloris Guelker of Gillett, Emily (Norman) Allan of Milwaukee; one sister-in-law, Muriel Suring of Green Bay; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Rodean was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Thomas, in 1960, four brothers and one sister. Friends called at St. John Lutheran Church in Hayes, Saturday, November 14, 1998. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church with Pastor Russell Kampfer officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home, Suring, was in charge of arrangements. A memorial has been established with the St. John Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.
