He was born May 17,1928 in Menominee to George and Elsie (Rader) Vogeltanz. He married the former Ann Jicha on June 16, 1951 in El Paso, Texas. He worked as a representative for the Ferrell Gas Co. in Mountain, retiring on Feb. 28, 1992. He also worked for the Volunteer Fire Dept. in Mountain, serving as the Fire Chief from 1980 to 1992. He was a member of the Menominee American Legion and VFW and was a member of the DAV in Oconto Falls. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife Ann Mountain; one brother, James (Pat) Vogeltanz, Menominee; two sisters, Evelyn (Paul) Diefendorf, New York, and Patsy (Ralph) Kamin, Marinette; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and a very special godchild, Brianna Olson.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Wirth and one brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Sedella Vogeltanz.
Visitation was held at the Cadieu Funeral Home Wednesday, March 31, from 4 until 8 p.m. The VFW and American Legion held their visitation at 6 p.m. Funeral services were held Thursday at 11 a.m. from the funeral home with the Rev. William Shepard officiating. Burial in Riverside Cemetery with full military honors.
