The former Rosemary Courchaine was born July 22, 1919 at Oconto to the late William and Mary (Schmidt) Courchaine. She married Galyord Hanes Sr. August 7, 1935. He preceded her in death March 11, 1989.
Rosemary worked as a nurse’s aide at the Oconto Hospital, Riverside Nursing Home, Newbury’s and the Oconto Convalescent Home. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Oconto; the Ladies Aid at the church and also served as a Sunday School teacher. Rosemary loved crocheting, gardening and canning.
Survivors include four daughters, Shirleyann (Robert) Reed, Green Bay; Sandra (Gene) Beekman, Green Bay; Sharon (Bob) Noel, Marinette; Shelley (Michael) Jonet, Green Bay; One son, Gaylord Hanes, Jr., Oconto; a sister-in-law, Harriet Brabant, Oconto; a brother-in-law, Raymond Frewerd, Oconto; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a son, Francis, a daughter, Sylvia, brothers and sisters.
Friends called at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto. Funeral services were held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 13,2000 at the United Methodist Church, Oconto with the Rev. Frederik Schulz officiating. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery, Oconto, WI.
