Richard was born July 4, 1927 in Oconto to the late George and Mary (Altenthaler) Johnson. He graduated from Oconto High School in 1945.
Richard was employed at Briggs and Stratton Co., Milwaukee, WI for 35 years. He retired in 1991 and moved to 264 Cook Ave., Oconto, WI. His greatest enjoyment was playing his accordion and harmonica for friends and family. He also liked playing cards, especially "Shafskopf" at family gatherings.
Richard is survived by three brothers George A. (Joan) Johnson, Green Bay; Lawrence A. (Joan) Johnson, Menomonee Falls; William R. Johnson, Green Bay; and one sister, Theresa A. (Lee) Destache, Armstrong Creek. The family received relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto on Wednesday. A prayer service was led by Walter Kaszynski. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, September 13, at Holy Trinity Parish with the Rev. Paul Schumacher officiating and burial at Oconto Catholic Cemetery.
