EDGERTON - Rose Giese, age 90, died Friday, January 29, 1999 at the Edgerton
Memorial Community Hospital. after a brief illness. Rose was born on July 9,
1908 in Gillett, the daughter of John and Maria A. (Kirchoff) Baker. Rose met
Otto Giese while working in Milwaukee, and on August 23, 1927, they were
married in Rockford IL. Rose was a member of St John Lutheran Church in
Edgerton, and was active in the service guild. She was a good Christian, and
loved her Church. She was the first woman hired at the Nunn-Bush Edgerton
Shoe factory, and continued her employment there for over 38 years, retiring
in 1973. She had been a past member of the Rebekah Lodge, enjoyed music,
fishing, traveling, and especially her trips "up North". Rose will always be
remembered as a person who enjoyed life, loved her family, and took delight
in taking care of her grandchildren. She was a fun and loving mother and
grandmother, and was her family's "special friend".
Rose's loving survivors include her son, Donald and Evelyn, Edgerton; two
daughters, Charlotte and Stanley Hale, and Marjorie Furseth, all of Edgerton,
a brother, Harold and Eloise Baker, Green Bay, a sister, Margaret and Bernard
McMullin, Apopka, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, one
great-great-grandchild, and two sisters-in-law, Irene Baker, Adeline Giese,
and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto, on February 26, 1981, her
sisters, Eva Fye, Josephine Eklund, and Lydia Peters, her brothers, Tony,
Lawrence, William and Edward Baker.
Funeral Services for Rose will be conducted on Thursday, February 4, at 11
a.m. at the St. John Lutheran Church in Edgerton, with the Rev. David Jacob
officiating. Interment will be in the Fassett Cemetery in Edgerton. Friends
may call from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Bruni-Nygaard-Ward Funeral Home in Edgerton
on Wednesday evening.
