Mr. Roger Barber, 66, 8158 Two Mile Road, Oconto died early Saturday morning, February 6, 1999 at the Oconto Memorial Hospital.

Roger was born November 19, 1932 at Oconto, the son of the late Bernard and Edith (Kinziger) Barber. On July 1, 1953 Roger was united in marriage to the former Connie Byng in Reno, Nevada and she preceded him in death on May 5, 1997. Roger served in the United States Army, and retired on September 30, 1970 as a Chief Warrant Officer CW3 after 21 years of service. 11 of those years were overseas and included a tour of Vietnam, Korea, Japan and Europe. He received numerous medals including the Bronze Star, National Service Defence with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation, Korean Service, Good Conduct Fourth Award, Army Occupation (Japan), United Nations Service, Vietnam Service with three service stars, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign with device 60.

Roger was an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed hunting and was a member of the Abrams Sportsmans Club. Roger was also a Ham radio operator for over 40 years.

He will be lovingly misses by two daughters and a son-in-law, Tracey and Chuck Conger, Williamsburg, Virginia; Tamera Godshall, White Sulpher Springs, West Virginia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Sashico Barber, Milwaukee, Wisconsinl Eric and Patty Barber, Clarksville, Tennessee; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and Phillip Anderson, Scottsdale, AZ and Nancy and Sam Melchiorre, MiraLoma, CA; three grandchildren, Robert (Esther) Godshall, Angie Godshall, and Joey Stankevitz; two great-grandchildren, Brittany Pickles and Summer Godshall; his mother-in-law, Hazel Byng, Abrams; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Louis Michael and Ardis Byng, Abrams; nieces and nephews, and special friends Chester "Corky" and Katherine Crow, Williamsburg, Virginia.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Rhodes-Chapata Funeral Home, 121 Chicago Street, Oconto from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday, February, 1999. Funeral Services 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Deacon Walter Kaszynski officiating. Private family interment will be taking place.
