Pallbearers at the funeral were Allan Barry, Ford McMillian and J. L. Brennan representing the B. P. O. Elks, and R.E. Moxley, Thos. Riley and James Smith representing American war veterans.
The late Mr. Wagner was a former member of Unity lodge, B. P. O. Elks in Saskatchewan, and also a veteran of the Spanish American war. Many floral tributes decorated the casket, included among them wreaths from the United States government, Unity lodge B. P. O. Elks, Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Harvey and numerous friends in the north - The Northern Mail, The Pas, Manitoba, Canada.
Mr. Wagner was the son of Mrs. Christina Wagner of Oconto Falls. He was known to quite a few Oconto Falls folks.
Philip Wagner
Mrs. Christine Wagner and daughter, Miss Meta, received the sad tidings Sunday, June 19th, that their son and brother, Philip, had passed away suddenly at the Pas, Manitoba, Canada, following a severe heart attack.
Mr. Wagner was engaged on a railroad construction job at the Pas, at which location he had been for the past seven years. Philip Wagner was born on Nov. 13, 1879 at Kewaskum, Wisconsin. He came to Oconto Falls with the family on June 15, 1892. At the age of 19, he enlisted in the Army when the Spanish-American war broke out, being a member of Company H, 4th regiment, Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry. Following his discharge from the Army, he went to Canada, where he has since been engaged in railroad construction work.
Survivors are his invalid mother, Mrs. Christina Wagner, 2 sisters, Meta at home in Oconto Falls and Della, Mrs. E. K. Wolfgram of Milwaukee, and two brothers Will of Detroit and Louis of Narrow Lake, Ontario, Canada. Burial arrangements are still pending word from the brother Louis who had not been reached on Wednesday. Sincere sympathy is extended for the family in this sorrow by their many friends.
